In all of my ambition to see a whale I booked a 2 hour, sunset/whale watching cruise with Taino Divers, in Rincon. Rincon is supposed to be a hot spot for the big, amazing animal. Taino divers doesn’t promise that you’ll see a whale, that’s why they offer the, “Sunset cruise” keeping visitors aware that whether or not they see a whale, they won’t be disappointed because of the amazing sunset. 🙂 Quick plug for them: They were organized, easy to reach on the phone, they took a reservation, kept us updated on the weather and were super friendly. I highly recommend Taino Divers!
After arriving we quickly set sail, with some friends. I’m lucky enough to have a friend who shares in my obsession. 🙂
Right away we spotted a whale in the distance, when I say “we” I mean, not me, but some people on the boat. Haha. We chased the whale but never came close to seeing it again. I guess it was traveling and the water was very rough. The whale out ran our boat.
The kids were having a blast on the boat!
I held out hope until the last few minutes but we never saw a whale. I guess they want to keep me in suspense! I’m so glad we went anyway because it’s truly amazing to be out on the big open ocean with great company! Maybe next year, whales!
We topped the night off with a visit to an awesome restaurant, El Cambia, where the kids had shark, Sting Ray and Lion Fish for dinner. They’re all so brave!
***UPDATE***
We saw 4 whales at Crash Boat Beach! Totally unexpected. I have one really bad picture. It was awesome and totally worth the wait!
