This is what we have experienced at Shacks. You may have had a different experience. We’d love to hear about it if you do. This is also an awesome beach for playing! The kids had so much fun! John, of course, started building away. Check out his and his friends awesome creation!
You can see from the picture above that there are rocky and sandy spots at Shacks. This is the beauty of this beach. We can walk on the sandy spots while still enjoying great snorkeling near the rocks. I wouldn’t consider this a very dangerous beach. Of course, we still always watch the kids very carefully.
See the waves? Just beyond the waves is a little spot called, “The Blue Hole” It’s a pretty spot that really looks like a blue hole. We went out there yesterday. Here’s my opinion. I’m hoping someone else had more fun because I don’t think I’ll be going out to the blue hole again for awhile. We went on a fairly rough day which could have added to the problems I had snorkeling out to and back from the blue hole.
Getting to about where the the people are in the picture above was really easy. The fish are huge and beautiful. Really straight out of a movie.
Just beyond that are more rocks, some of which you have to go over to get to the blue hole. Again, I’m hoping I’m wrong here and there’s a really easy way to get through. I wasn’t able to get past the rocks without hitting some and getting a pretty good scrape on my leg and some on the back of my hand. When we got into the blue hole, it was pretty and I’m glad I went but I didn’t see anything there that I couldn’t see closer to shore. If there weren’t any waves I would go there all day long because I wouldn’t have hit the coral. With the waves though, I would recommend for anyone who isn’t skilled to stay closer to shore. I definitly wouldn’t take one of my kids. The group in the picture actually tried and only got that far.
It’s also easy to lose track of the people around you. At one point I ended up alone and had no idea how to find Ryan and our friend Spencer. I actually heard a little voice telling me not to go back and luckily listened, headed another direction alone and found them right in front of me a few minutes later. I was so grateful!
Anyway, when we go back to Shacks I’m going to enjoy the awesome snorkeling near the shore and the beautiful beaches!
Love your blog Jenny. Keep writing.

Hi Janice! That’s so exciting! Are you coming here for work? We don’t know a lot about the mountain areas, as far as housing but have driven through some of them. It’s beautiful up there! We’ve heard housing is very affordable. When are you moving?
way to listen to the spirit, man!
