Lago Dos Bocas

We had such a fun day today!

Today’s adventure took us to a lake in Utuado, Lago dos bocas. MAP

I LOVE my family!

From the dock we took a ferry to one of four restaurants across the lake. The boat trip was the real treat. You can even take a free boat ride around the lake and skip the restaurants all together. I think we’ll go back just for the boat ride but today we were hungry so we headed over to, El Fogón de Abuela.

Ryan had read some good reviews on it. I would say the food was good but not any better than anything else we’ve eaten in Puerto Rico. The service was great!

Comida. The food in front is goat stew!

We were definitely in it for the experience. You can’t really beat taking a boat, on a lake, in the jungle for your Saturday activity!

My kids don’t know how spoiled they are. Look at this guy. Livin’ the life!

I’m adding a few extra picture because it was just too amazing to leave them out.

The dock where you can catch your boat.

I love this house! Little cottage on the hill.

Details: Near the dock there is a pavilion. Look for guys carying around papers and looking like they work there. All of these guys work for the restarants across the lake. They will tell you about the restarant and show you a menu so you can make a good decision about where you want to eat. Once you decide they will basically put you on a waiting list for the next boat. They reserve your table for you over the phone so that when you get to the restaurant your table will be ready (if everything runs perfectly, as it did the day we went).

We waited for about 20 minutes for our boat. The ride was beautiful. We got off right in front of the restaurant. The service was great. They did take credit cards. The service at El Fogón de Abuela was awesome. We ordered something for everyone and had way too much food. The servings were really big. I would say that 2 people can share every meal, even the kids meals were big enough to share. We took a lot of food back to feed the dogs that live on the beach.

We didn’t wait even 2 minutes to get back on the boat before we were heading back to the car. It was raining so it was nice to have an umbrella handy. in fact, if you’re coming to Puerto Rico, grab an umbrella, it’s always nice to have one in the car!
