Hurricane Gonzolo

We spent Monday this week preparing for and learning all about Hurricanes. We had a hurricane and tropical storm warning for Tuesday, which made me really nervous. Blizzard, sure, no big deal but I was so worried about this hurricane. Especially, because we’re on the coast and one thing that bothered me about moving was that I couldn’t take my food storage with me. We’ve been gradually stocking up since we got here..

The guard in our complex assured me that he was listening to the radio and would update me if there was a problem. He told me to stay inside during the storm and we would be fine.

So, we stocked up on water. filled up the tub for flushing toilets, made sure we had food we didn’t have to cook and we were set.

As the day went on the storm looked like it was going to hit San Juan but not much over here.

We have metal storm shutters that cover our glass windows. We put those down and went to bed.

The next morning we could tell it had rained a lot over night but nothing bad. The storm knocked out some power in San Juan but it wasn’t too bad over there either. Phew!

Our Prayers go out to those in Antigua, St. Martin, Bermuda and the other islands that the hurricane did affect.
