We had an awesome Thanksgiving today! Yes, Puerto Rican’s celebrate Thanksgiving too! We spent most of yesterday preparing so today was easy. This was our first Thanksgiving away from our family so it was a little different being a grown up this year and making a Turkey.
It was nice to spend more time focused on gratitude. I’m so grateful for Ryan and our kids. I’m so blessed to have an awesome family! I’m so grateful for all of our extended family that we’re missing this year. I’m grateful for awesome friends, a beautiful world, a safe place to live, healthy food, happiness and joy, I’m grateful to my Heavenly Father for providing us with a wonderful life!
A big thanks to Ashley for being the kind of person that wants to make cute things for every Holiday! She worked hard on the acorns and cheese-ball Turkeys. Thanks to Ryan for helping me cook because he loves to cook and I don’t. 🙂 Last but not least, thank you Shaw’s for having dinner at your house! We love you guys!
Hello Jenny & Family – Love your blog, it is very helpful.
We are a family from West Virginia with a 10yr. old girl. We are actively house hunting in PR. Could you tell me how your kids did with transitioning to a PR school? My biggest worry is that my 10yr. old will not be able to speak enough spanish to get along in school.
Any info. would be much appreciated.
Thank you for your blog. Janice
Hi Janice! How are you? Wow! That’s so exciting!
We actually homeschool our kids so they haven’t had that adjustment at all. I don’t want to generalize and say that all public schools here are bad. From what I’ve heard, the public schools here aren’t great. Most people that I know have their kids in a private school. If it’s a private school it will most likely be in English, except the Spanish class. This may be a great option because the kids still speak Spanish on the playground so your daughter will be able to learn Spanish but not feel stressed in the classroom. Most of the private schools here aren’t very expensive. The one I’ve heard is the best is a little more than I paid for preschool in Utah. I do have one friend who has her kids in a bilingual school, which she likes. If you’re coming here as a government employee I know there is a good military school in San Juan and a public school on the Ramey base, in Aguadilla. Are you coming here for work? I’m happy to ask around. What area are you looking into?
