I think she’s had more medications in the past few days than I’ve had in my life.
They are going to be putting in a PICC line today to have better access to administer medications. They are going to place it in her leg and run it up close to her heart.
Another crazy procedure.
She is still pretty stable.
We’ve receive so much love and support from so many people in so many ways. We love helping people and have a hard time accepting help but it has been awesome to experience the different ways you all help us each day. We are SO THANKFUL for each and every one of you.
Here’s to a day of progress! 👍
It’s amazing watching the team work around here. We are so grateful for them and for what they do for Gracie, Since her surgery she’s had her own dedicated nurse every day.
10:30am They are taking Grace to the operating room in about an hour. Crossing our fingers. It’s a pretty simple procedure so hopefully she behaves 🙂
This is what we noticed on Ryan’s phone while we were waiting for Grace to come out of the OR.
12:30pm A few ups and downs so far today…She struggled a little after the last procedure but she’s doing better.
The swelling has gone down enough that they are going to remove her chest tubes later today! Yay!
We will let you know how it goes. I can’t post the video here of them taking Grace to the OR because there are too many doctors and nurses in it but it’s so amazing. It’s a big job. They have to have 2 people pushing and pulling the bed and watching for cables. They have someone pushing the pole with all of her IV’s. They have someone watching the monitors and someone with the ventilator. We barely all fit into the elevator. It’s amazing. Then when we get to the OR they have about 6 people carry our teeny baby onto the table. It’s quite a production.
1:00pm Chest tubes are out and she’s still stable.
8:00pm Great day today….There’s still a long way to go but Grace kicked butt today.
They were able to take away all three of her chest tubes, her catheter, and the IV line in her neck.
The PICC line looks good from the procedure this morning.
They did an hour long breathing test where they pause the ventilator and she did great. She kept breathing on her own for the entire time. They are going to do two more test during the night. They said it will still probably be a few days until they can get her off the machine but we’ll take that!
She is still really swollen and has a lot of inflammation to deal with but she’s looking better.
She has been heavily sedated most of the day, but there was a short period where she had her eyes open and was looking around checking things out.
We are so grateful for a good day today. It’s a miracle for Jen and I each day we experience the love and support from all of you. We’re still hoping and praying for miracles each and every day. Thanks for adding yours to ours.
