We are hoping that they will be able to get her off the ventilator today. Fingers crossed!
10:00am We just talked with the surgeon and he said that with the amount of fluid still draining he is concerned that the Chylothorax issue isn’t correcting itself.
They are going to give her another day or so to see if it can work itself out, but if not, they will have to perform another major surgery that can hopefully fix it.
We are praying hard to avoid that surgery. Please add your prayers to ours.
12:00pm – Yay! They just took her off the ventilator. We just heard her first little cry in 9 days.
Everyone that comes to visit her says that she looks so much smaller in person. I think this picture shows how tiny she is.
Today was a good day. They took Gracie off the ventilator and Jenny got to hold her.
She is still draining fluid but it has slowed down a bit. We’re still desperately hoping and praying that she will heal without an additional surgery.
It was so great to get to sit and see Jenny holding her and feel the awesome feeling of love for both of them. Gracie has a rally sore throat because of the tube that was there, but she started making a few noises and it should get better over the next few days.
Right now the plan is still to keep her off of all feeds other than some IV nutrition fro the next couple days. If she heals then that will be awesome. If she is still having issues after the weekend then they will schedule an additional surgery early next week. It’s a major surgery and comes with risks like any other surgery so we hope it doesn’t come to that.
Thanks again for all theming words and support.
