Day 4 with Gracie

Big changes this morning. Grace did well overnight. When we got here this morning they told us that they have moved the two surgeries up.

This afternoon she will undergo the cath procedure to check several things in the heart including her coronary arteries. They do the procedure a lot but it does carry many risks. We are hoping and praying for the best.

She will be under anesthesia and be on a breathing machine. They are going to leave her on the machine and do her open heart surgery tomorrow.

We know we are in good hands but it is still super scary. Please keep sending your prayers and good thoughts.

This is before her procedure. This morning was the first time that I noticed some little things that told me it was time for her to get her heart fixed. Without that I think it would have been a lot harder to let them take her. Notice how much we’ve been holding her, something I thought was impossible! Love this girl!

She had a lot of visitors

Amy came to meet her and put her fast to sleep. 🙂

Waiting in the Ronald McDonald room for Grace to get done.

Our precious angel just finished her first procedure and she came out a winner! We are so proud of her.

During the procedure they found that her right side ventricle has had pretty high pressure causing blood to be pushed to the coronary arteries which is not a good thing. However, they said that initially from the echocardiogram they did they thought it would be a lot worse. This puts her in a higher risk category going forward but there isn’t really anything they can do about that part other than monitor her more slowly than originally planned.

Her pulmonary artery is shaped a little abnormal and the ductus tissue could pinch the artery as the duct closes so they are now going to repair that during surgery as well. Also, the wall between her top chambers is not as open as they would like it to be so they are going to fix that at the same time as well!

Three surgeries at the same time… What a thought little girl. I wouldn’t wish this on anyone, but I believe the feelings of love that come along with something like this can’t really be experienced any other way.

I’m amazed at the strength of Grace. She hasn’t even complained once!!

A big thank you to all of the amazing nurses and doctors at Primaries! We don’t know how they do what they do!

Hoping for a good night for Gracie. Thanks again everyone. She’s got another big fight tomorrow and we’re confident she’ll be strong.
