20 day old Gracie

Morning: We got here this morning and Grace is having trouble again. The fluid in her chest isn’t clearing up and one of her chest tubes is coming out.

They are taking her here in a few minutes to get yet another chest tube out in.

We are still hoping and praying that they don’t need to do the thoracic duct ligation surgery, but they are pretty sure she is going to need it.

They are giving her two more days and if things aren’t progressing they will schedule surgery for early next week.

People keeping saying this is a roller coaster. It feels more like we’re crash test dummies running into a wall over and over. Roller coasters are actually fun 🙂

At least we have Grace to focus on and all of you for support.

I’ll let you know how the procedure goes.

This is where Ryan and my hands are almost all day every day.

Mid-morning: The procedure went as planned and she has her new chest tube.

Afternoon: Not much change so far today. We are going to keep her off food today and tomorrow and then if there is a significant change in her chest output they will try starting feeds and see how it goes.

If there is no change or very little change they will schedule surgery for Monday or Tuesday.

She did get some visitors today, which she loves. When the kids come around I can tell she feels a little better.
