We had an ultrasound a few days ago with the cardiologist. This appointment was very discouraging and sad. We got a lot of bad news. The doctor told us that Gracie has fluid around her heart, lungs, and abdomen. This is called fetal hydrops, it’s a very bad thing. If the fluid gets worse they’ll want to induce me soon which decreases her chances for survival. I went into this ultrasound with overly optimistic expectations and it was so disappointing. We talked a lot, with the cardiologist about survival rates and how they might not offer her the surgeries if she’s born too early or with any other complications or infections. We feel like it was good that he was boing realistic with us, it was just hard to hear. We have another appt. scheduled with a different doctor in a few days. He should be able to determine if the fluid is getting worse or better. The cardiologist said if we can make it to 35 weeks she’ll be much better off. Keep praying!
