Alright, here’s another update on the baby.
It’s been about 3 months since I last posted about this, but I know that many of you are curious how things are going.
Shortly after my last post on Facebook, we found out that not only does Gracie have a major heart condition, but she also has fluid around her heart and lungs. This isn’t a good thing and can complicate things quite a bit.
We are getting really close. Jen is scheduled to be induced this Thursday, April 28th if everything works out with the hospitals scheduling. If Thursday doesn’t work, it’ll for sure be Friday.
We’ll know more details when she is born, but the basic plan is to deliver the baby at the University of Utah hospital and then immediately transfer the baby to the NICU at the U. Once she is stable, they will transfer her over the skybridge to Primary Children’s Hospital to the Cardiac ICU.
From there, she will most likely have her first open chest surgery within the first week.
Jenny is doing great other than being tired of being pregnant. I’m doing well also. It is a wild ride and things change from day to day. We have learned that when things are out of your control, one of the best things to do is to take the information you have and move forward, then when you get new information, you adjust your plan and take another step forward.
We are so glad to be where we have great doctors and facilities to help us through all the craziness, and we are especially grateful for all of you for your support. We have felt your love and support.
People keep asking us what they can do to help. Here is my answer. Follow your inspiration. We don’t even know what we need help with at this point, so if you feel inspired… just do it.
We love you all and will keep you updated.
Our precious angel is almost here. We’re hoping for the best!!
