We went for our ultrasound yesterday. The good news is It’s a Girl! Ashley is so excited and so are the boys!
I was 22 weeks and we were expecting the usual Healthy baby but instead got a lot of bad news about our babies heart. The doctor told us that she has excessive fluid around her heart and her right ventricle is very small and not developing. We don’t know why. It’s because something is blocked but we don’t know what. We’re so sad to hear this. We don’t know what this means for the future of our little girl. It blows my mind that we can get info like this when she’s only about 1 lb and 11 inches long and won’t even be born for 4 more months.
All we know right now is that we have an appointment at primary children’s hospital for another hour long ultrasound today, where they will just look at her heart. We should know after that exactly what we’re up against. I can’t believe we’re here. It just feels like a dream. All of her other organs and brain and her whole body looks good but this heart isn’t complete for some reason.
We’re really grateful that we’re close to primary children’s hospital: I’m not sure what to think. I’ve been reading like crazy about the possible outcomes but it really doesn’t do me much good until we know all of the details. Thank you to all of our good friends and family praying for us.
